Why depth drives cost
Every foot of drop pipe and wire has to come up and go back down, often with a pump hoist truck. Angi's depth bands run $400 to $3,000+ under 25 ft, $1,200 to $5,500+ at 25 to 150 ft and $2,000 to $10,000+ beyond 150 ft. Replacing pipe and wire adds about $1 to $3 per foot each (The Well Guide).
Repair or replace?
Angi says submersible pumps last 8 to 15 years and jet pumps 8 to 10. The Well Guide's rule of thumb: if the pump has to be pulled and the repair would cost more than half of a replacement, replace it.
