How Our Estimates Are Built

How Well Pump Repair Cost builds its cost estimates: which sources we use, how the math works, what is our own estimate, and how pages are reviewed.

Where the numbers come from

Every price range on this site is taken from a named, published source, and each guide cites its sources on the page. Permit and code notes on county pages link to the government office or rule they come from. When two sources disagree, we show the wider range or name both.

How the estimator calculates

The estimator prices the job line by line. Each line is a published installed-cost range, multiplied by your quantity where the cost scales with size, then by any multipliers you choose (access, soil, region and similar factors). The low ends add up to the low total and the high ends to the high total, rounded to the nearest $10. The math runs in your browser; your inputs are not sent to us.

What is our own estimate

Multipliers and any per-unit splits we derived ourselves are labeled "est." in the estimator. Everything else traces to a cited source. Results are planning ranges, not quotes: local labor rates, site conditions and code requirements move real bids.

See it worked through

The worked example shows one run of the estimator with every line and the total, so you can check the arithmetic.

Review and corrections

Each guide and county page shows the date it was last reviewed. When a source updates its figures or a rule changes, we update the page and its date. If you spot an error, write to us at the address below and we will check it against the source.

Independence

Well Pump Repair Cost is published by Cornelia Cove LLC. We do not perform the work. Any referral arrangement with contractors never changes the estimator results.
